Fall 2012 Canadian Rockies Photo Tour Results — Alan Ernst
October 21, 2012
Continuing the series of favorite photos from the recent Fall 2012 Photo Tour, today I’d like to share a few images from tour co-leader and Aurum Lodge proprietor Alan Ernst. Most often, Alan can be found concentrating on using his camera to extract some of the limitless details to be found in the photo-rich locations we visit. But even a master of intimate compositions occasionally still falls prey to the power of the grand view as well. 🙂 It’s often an education in creative seeing just to follow Alan around and watch where he puts his attention!
You can find some more images from the tour members in our group photo stream at Flickr.

Nice to see all these talented photo-artists compiled here. What I find interesting is how everyone seems to go to the same location, but arrive at VERY different conclusions as to what is “worthy”.
David, that’s a good observation, and a very common one on all the group events that I’ve ever been involved in. Creative image-making comes even more from within than it does from what’s “out there” — that’s true whether one is working in photography, or any other visual medium.
I find when I’m producing images that “look the same” (as my own previous work, the work of others, or whatever), it’s because I’m not really putting the effort into actively interpreting what is in front of me and then expressing it back through the lens of my own creativity…
