Fall 2012 Canadian Rockies Photo Tour Results — Garrett Atkins
After a break to work on some other deadlines, today I have a new set of images to share from the Fall 2012 Photo Tour based at Aurum Lodge. Over the past few days, the season in Calgary has taken a definite turn towards a more wintery flavor. We’ve had our first nights below freezing, our first snowfall, and some days that have been grey, chill and blustery. But this set of 5 favorite photos from tour participant Garrett Atkins takes me right back to the unusually warm days we had on the tour, filled with good light, rich fall colors, and an array of great locations in which to photograph.
Garrett was with us originally from the USA, but had spent time in Calgary for work so was not unfamiliar with the Canadian Rockies. It was enjoyable to talk and work with him a bit during the tour, and observe his appreciation & affinity for the Rockies. No wide-eyed flatlander :), he wasn’t phased by the iconic grand views. He developed interesting compositions that showcase fall details while still evoking our experiences in a region of majestic mountain landscape. I also had the privilege to see some of Garrett’s work printed by Costas Costoulas at Resolve Photo. Wow, very good stuff!
