School’s Out for the Summer
Last night, I was doing some packing and last-minute errands, getting ready to head out of town for a summer photo tour in the Canadian Rockies. While I was working in my home office, I heard the weather pick up outside. Within moments, large hail was hammering down on the house, as yet another quick and violent summer storm blew through the area. It had the whole shebang — lighting, thunder, heavy rain & hail, strong wind. I kept working because I had a lot of things to take care of.
Within perhaps 15 minutes, the pounding of hail & rain had ceased. But then golden light began pouring through the windows. I took a peek outside, and immediately grabbed my camera, ran out, and spent the next half hour seeing if I could capture something interesting. The storm was moving rapidly to the east as the sun went down, and eventually I ended up in the sports field of the neighborhood school as the last rays of light dwindled on the wild cloud formations. School’s out, but this summer the storms have definitely been in! After the show was over, I went back to my work… but glad that I’d taken the opportunity to enjoy the spectacle of the storm.
oooh, I like this. Good eye to catch this.
Wild Skies indeed… kind of cool with the oincongruous building
