2011 Event Schedule Updated
Things have been busy of late, one task being to lock down some dates for upcoming field photography events in 2011. This year I’ll be involved with three events held at Aurum Lodge, located in David Thompson Country in the front range of the Canadian Rockies. If you’re not familiar with the area, you should be! It’s a fantastic wilderness region off the beaten path, and the lodge is ideally positioned to provide access to an incredible array of photographic opportunities.
- The Spring 2011 Photo Tour will be run May 15 – 19, 2011. Ready to say adios to a long, cold winter? This tour can help you turn over a new leaf with a fresh new season of photography. (Okay, that was a bit corny…)
- Following last year’s successful fall tour, the Fall 2011 Photo Tour will happen from September 26 – October 1 this year. This tour promises to be a great experience in the Rockies during a spectacular season.
- The previously announced Light Matters Masterclass on Creative Expression is confirmed for November 2 – 6, 2011. I’m really excited to be co-leading this event with fantastic fellow Alberta-based photographers Samantha Chrysanthou and Darwin Wiggett. This will be a learning & development oriented event, aimed at mastering a selection of elements of the craft, art and profession of photography.
I’d like to highlight the fact that these events are all based on a small group model. The Light Matters Masterclass event has a specialized format with 2 other great co-leaders, which means there will be at most 3 participants per instructor. My photo tours typically will have around 6 group members at most, and are given a huge boost through the joint guidance of Aurum Lodge proprietor Alan Ernst. Alan’s an accomplished photographer and field guide in his own right. So these are not mass events with a cast of thousands and an impersonal, schedule-driven delivery style. Instead we strive to give everyone a strong element of personal focus, and ensure that each participant comes away with a satisfying portfolio of new photographs.
